By this time, dear readers, I'm sure you know why there's been no posts. For those of you who are slightly behind the curve, my better half is currently owned by the camp; his adoring girlfriend is a bit of an afterthought. (Except when he's violently ill and chooses to text me at 4:10 on a Saturday morning to divulge said information. Despite the fact that we had possible plans that day, I prefer to think he texted me as a subconscious plea for a little mollycoddling. Hugs make everything better. End of discussion.) Hence, blogging this summer is relegated to the rare opportunity that we actually get to spend time together ~ don't hold your breath for updates, duckies.

Hello! My name is...
Everyone has a nickname or two, or - in BGRR's case - thirty. It's one of those cute things you pick up along the way for one of a multitude of reasons. Generally though, they actually relate to the person in one way or another. Through the four months (I think?) we've been dating, we haven't gotten nicknames so much as little affections we tend to fall into when talking to or referring to the other party. BGRR, as evidence of his growing romantic ability, actually refers to me as "love." I nearly choked in disbelief the first time I heard it from his lips. And then made him repeat it just to make sure I wasn't suffering from some hallucination or another. Hitch, you are my hero! I tend to fall back to the eyebrow-raising "meme", pronounced "meh-meh" and said at my normal speaking rate of 30 words a second. As for what it means, well, you can just track down Meme yourself and ask him. I do tend to fall back into Farsi terms, especially when writing, so the random "delam" does pop up and by this point, he gets it consistantly. For the record, this tendency is part of my master plot to teach him enough Farsi to get by and comprehend when he's being spoken at during an argument. There are the usuals sprinkled through conversation: honey, dear, darling, hun; call them forces of habit and success at breaking him from being a stick in the mud. Go me.
Background: camp season begins today for my better half, starting with training for a week and then Operation Purple (which, coicidentally happens to be one of the most awesome ideas ever. Have you thanked a servicemember today?) Overnight and day camps begin the third week in June and BGRR has the absolutely awesome position of assistant program planner. I'm so proud of him having earned this little masochistic sentance it's disgusting. Granted, I'll get to see him maybe twice between now and September but this is good for his resume and it's just one of those sacrifices that have to be made. This doesn't mean he'll be without the adoration-inspired teasing, though. Oh no. I know how much he'd hate to not be teased. Hence: Dan needs a new nickname.
I first proposed the new nickname on Facebook, with the hopes that this would turn into another lovely discussion.

You know, I had this absolutely insane idea on the way back from service tonite: wouldn't it be awesome if your "really close friend' gave you some really silly nickname for the duration of this camp season, and then addressed all your packages (internally of course) to said nickname? I mean, you could never in a million years get angry at me for _that_. The kids would LOVE it!!
So how's this one? I think it suits you perfectly, oh fuzzy one: Danny Ducky-kins. Which makes you Ducky for short, which even you have to admit is completely adorable. Be a dear and reply back your thoughts - the girls are beginning to think you've forgotten my fb existance again.
Which was soon acknowledged......

::Laughs:: I think I have enough nicknames already Rose and Ducky isn't really going along with the ones that already exist. Lets try something a little more..."me" if you know what I mean. Wolfman (aka Vinnies nickname), Augdan (common nickname and callsign which would be fitting for you to use), Sir Knight (which would just be amusing), or if you really want to put in a lot of thought into it come up with a name for each of the "themed" weeks. Just my thoughts on the topic, talk to you soon love and I hope all is going well.
My initial response is the desire to throw a bit of a tantrum. I really do want to call him Ducky-kins ~ and quack at him. I really want to quack at him. However his idea of having one for each of the themed weeks is rather intriguing. This would also allow me to send him a box each week filled with random theme things he can give to the kids, which I would absolutely love to do! Plus, I could send him a nametag for each week that goes with the theme *evil grin* the question being whether he'd wear it, especially in front of the parents. Meh, I suppose they could be appropriate. If they insist.
